Young Choreographer’s Festival, Palace Theatre | November 17, 2013
For the second year in a row, the Young Choreographer’s Festival at the Palace Theatre in Stamford featured two students from Greenwich Dance Studio, Caroline Drennen and Patricia Hannett. Each dancer, both seniors, choreographed her own piece and performed along with the members of the GDS Company and Jr. Company. Drennen’s “Seven Deadly Sins,” a contemporary jazz piece, and Hannett’s “Wait it Out,” a contemporary piece, were among the 30 numbers performed on Sunday, November 17, 2013.
Spring Performance, SUNY Purchase, Concert Hall | May 4, 2013
Nearly 300 dancers performed in Greenwich Dance Studio’s annual spring performance on May 4th in an evening entitled “Timeline.” This year’s theme was “an historical exploration through the ages” with pieces about the Boston Tea Party, Impressionism, Miss America, Woodstock, and many others. The audience of over 1200 enjoyed the matinee and evening performances and all were invited to the reception afterward. It was a beautiful day of dancing and we couldn’t be more proud of the hard work of our dancers and teachers.
DanceFest, Palace Theatre | January 20, 2013
GDS was one of nearly 2 dozen schools to participate in the annual DanceFest at the Palace in Stamford. The performance highlighted the Company and Jr. Company members in their popular jazz piece “That Man” choreographed by the amazingly talented So You Think You Can Dance finalist, Karla Garcia. We are so proud of our company’s stellar performance!
Enchanted Forest Benefit Performance | November 18, 2012
GDS was honored to be asked to perform in the Jr. League of Greenwich’s annual benefit, The Enchanted Forest. Company and Jr. Company members performed select pieces from their repertoire on Sunday of the weekend-long holiday festival, to a packed and enthusiastic audience.

Our very own Caroline Drennen and Emma Kvaale, current high school students at the studio, participated as choreographers in the 2nd annual choreographer’s festival. Drennen and Kvaale created their piece, chose their dancers, rehearsed, staged and then performed the dance, “Miles Away,” at the Palace Theatre, along with 30 other young choreographers. It was an inspiring evening, and we are very proud of both choreographers and the other GDS dancers who performed.
GDS Announces Greenwich Dance Studio Petite Opening | October 2012
Greenwich Dance Studio is thrilled to announce we have signed a lease and begun renovations on a second studio location, called Greenwich Dance Studio Petite. The new studio, located in the Shop Rite Plaza on the Old Greenwich/Stamford line, features classes for the toddler and preschool set, including both mommy & me and drop off classes for children aged 4 months to 4 years. It also houses a beautiful new boutique with GDS apparel, our main office, and costume storage, in addition to the 700 square foot studio. Plenty of parking is available, and the plaza provides convenient grocery shopping, a dry cleaners, coffee shop and nail salon, among other businesses. The 8th annual Greenwich Dance Studio spring performance took place on May 12th with over 260 students performing. This year’s title, “Play on Words,” featured ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, lyrical, pointe, creative movement and company pieces such as Butterflies in Your Stomach, Piece of Cake, Kid in a Candy Store, Smooth as Silk, and Birds of a Feather Flock Together. It was a gorgeous evening, and GDS is so proud of our students!
10th Annual Dancefest, Stamford | January 22, 2012
11 Company and Junior Company members performed at the 10th Annual Dancefest at the Palace Theatre in Stamford, CT. Bravo to our beautiful dancers and also Carol Bryan, Director of Dancefest for giving GDS the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful production!
Los Gorriones Orphanage Benefit, Bush-Holley House | June 5, 2011
Greenwich Dance Studio friends and families attended a benefit supporting Los Gorriones Orphanage in Ayacucho, Peru on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at The Bush-Holley House. Families enjoyed creating cards to send to the children of Los Gorriones with drawings of dancers and words of encouragement and support. Garden Catering graciously provided all of the delicious food which was greatly enjoyed. During the reception the party was moved to an outside location in order to watch a performance by Jr Company, Pointe III, Jazz III Saturday (KT) and Lyrical. Thank you to all who donated and for the support GDS has shown. Together GDS friends and families raised over $7,500 to send to the orphanage. Congratulations everyone!

Greenwich Dance Studio graced the stage for their 7th annual Spring Performance, “One Upon A Time” on Saturday, May 21st at the Performing Arts Center at SUNY Purchase College. Over 275 dancers performed pieces based on classic books throughout the evening, bringing memories of favorite stories to the over 1,200 audience members. After the performances Garden Catering and GDS hosted two delicious receptions for the audience and dancers. The evening was a testament to all of the hard work Greenwich Dance Studio’s dancers have put in all year long. All of the GDS dancers should be proud of such a beautiful performance!

Eleven of Greenwich Dance Studio’s students beautifully performed a piece named “Eat, Pray, Love” in the 9th annual DanceFest this year, held at The Palace Theater in Stamford on Sunday, January 23rd. GDS’s Junior Company and Jazz IV took the stage to perform along with 18 dance schools from all over Fairfield and Westchester Counties. The performance was fantastic from beginning to end and a great experience for everyone involved. Congratulations to all of our DanceFest dancers on a successful evening.

Over 1,200 people attended this years Spring Performance, “Footsteps” at SUNY Purchase which expressed the journey of life through various types of dance. This years performance was especially momentous as 9 of Greenwich Dance Studio’s Seniors danced in their last show. After both show’s, audience members and dancers gathered for two delicious receptions, all thanks to Garden Catering. It was a wonderful evening filled with beautiful dancing demonstrating all of the hard work and dedication of our students throughout the year. Movement, Opportunity, Music, Neighborhood Studios Benefit Performance, Massey Theatre | May 9, 2010
Greenwich Dance Studio hosted a benefit performance for Neighborhood Studios, a local 501(c)3 committed to bringing arts education to underprivileged children and children with special needs in the Bridgeport area. Many thanks to the Brunswick Blue Notes and Neighborhood Studios for their exemplary performances alongside over 50 Greenwich Dance Studio dancers. And of course thank you to our family and friends for sharing your Mother’s Day with us, and for helping Greenwich Dance Studio raise over $4000 for Neighborhood Studios! Congratulations everyone!

14 dancers participated in Dancefest, a week long celebration of dance including master classes and a student performance at the Palace Theatre. Our students performed a jazz number called “Mind Your Mind”, to great applause. We look forward to participating in Dancefest 2011!
Edgar Cortes Dance Theatre, Cloisters – Fort Tryon Park, NY | September 13, 2009
Six of our Company dancers were selected by Edgar Cortes Dance Theatre to perform in an outdoor concert in the gardens at the Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The outdoor venue was idyllic as the troupe danced just as the sun was setting over the Hudson River. Many thanks to Edgar Cortes for including Greenwich Dance Studio in its inaugural performance. Bravo girls, on a stunning performance!

Over 1,500 people came to see our Spring Performance, “Motion Picture” at SUNY Purchase featuring music from movie soundtracks. As usual, the dancers and our audience enjoyed three plentiful and delicious receptions donated by Garden Catering. Greenwich Dance Studio hosted a benefit performance for the BRAD Fund, a local 501(c) 3 to raise money for pediatric cancer research. On a rainy Friday night, dancers from Greenwich Dance Studio performed at Richards on Greenwich Avenue in order to show our support for the proposed Greenwich Center for the Arts (GCA). 16 young ballerinas, and 12 teenage Hip-Hop students, danced for a fabulous audience made up of town leaders, local arts groups and of course, family and friends of Greenwich Dance Studio. The image of our “baby ballerinas” parading down the grand staircase to Vivaldi’s “Primavera” will not soon be forgotten. Bravo!

Greenwich Dance Studio’s Junior and Senior Companies participated in Stamford Center for the Arts annual “Dancefest”. 12 dancers took master classes in Ballet, Jazz, Theatre Dance and Hip-Hop. The week long experience culminated in a performance in which Greenwich Dance Studio Company dancers performed in a contemporary piece entitled “Drifting”, choreographed by Kate Truesdell.
